Raj Yoga School meets WAG – Welfare for Animals in Goa
Last season, we were honored to support ‘Welfare for Animals in Goa’, an animal sanctuary devoted to the rescue, care, and protection of animals in need. Their work is deeply compassionate and often unseen – providing shelter, medical care, and a second chance to those who would otherwise be left behind.
Supporting Animal Care Through Karma Yoga
Our yoga practice naturally extends to how we treat and support animals. As part of our Karma Yoga commitment, Raj Yoga School contributed to WAG through both financial support and community initiatives.
Raj Yoga School has made a financial donation to support their ongoing efforts, and we offered our shala as a space for kirtan gatherings, where kirtan artists and musicians can host events dedicated to raising funds for the sanctuary. These gatherings create a beautiful bridge between practice, community, and service – where music, devotion, and intention come together in support of a greater cause.
Welfare for Animals in Goa
WAG (Welfare for Animals in Goa) is dedicated to the rescue, treatment, and protection of injured and abandoned animals across Goa. Their work includes medical care, rehabilitation, and creating safe spaces for animals in need – helping them recover and, where possible, return to a safer environment.
WAG works on the ground every day to support stray and injured animals – rescuing them from the streets, providing medical treatment, and offering them a safe place to recover. Their shelter and clinic care for a wide range of animals, including dogs, cats, cows, goats, and birds, many of whom have been abandoned or severely injured.
Beyond rescue, their contribution includes sterilization programs, vaccinations, and ongoing medical care, helping to reduce suffering and support healthier animal populations in a sustainable way.
At their sanctuary, animals that cannot return to the streets are given a place to live safely – receiving food, treatment, and daily care from a small, dedicated team.
Kirtan as a Form of Service
Kirtan, the practice of devotional chanting, is not only a powerful tool for inner and Divine connection, but also a way to bring people together in a shared intention.
By offering space for these events, we aim to support both the spread of this practice and the important work of WAG. In this way, the practice of yoga extends beyond the mat – through sound, space, and community, allowing people to participate in something meaningful while contributing to a greater cause. A shared offering that supports life in all its forms.
Join Us
Supporting WAG is a way for us to contribute to the wellbeing of animals who depend on human care and compassion. It is also a reminder that yoga is not separate from life – it is expressed in how we act, give, and relate to all beings around us.
You are welcome to join the kirtan gatherings, support the events, or learn more about this beautiful initiative by WAG.
