By the completion of this module, you will be able to:

  • Understand the history of yoga and philosophy;
  • Understand theory & learn to perform the safe practice of joint cleansing sequence & other yogic micro exercises sequence;
  • Understand theory & learn to perform the safe practice of Sun Salutation;
  • Understand theory & learn to perform safe and balanced practice of asana sequences incorporating standing, seated, back bend, supine, balancing & inverted asanas;
  • Understand theory & learn to perform the safe practice of yogic preparatory movements essential to asana practice;
  • Understand dynamic adjustments essential to asana practice.
  • Learn to incorporate the transformational yoga in daily life;​

This module covers the study of the anatomy and functional physiology of bodily systems. The objective is to understand the body systems, translate this knowledge into a yogic context, and apply it to yoga practices, including benefits, contraindications, healthy movement patterns, etc.

This Module covers the detailed study of Yoga physiology, including the Para and Apara dimensions of consciousness, the seven chakra systems, the five prana bodies and their relation to the chakra system, the prana body’s energy flow system, and the nadi system and energy mechanics of Transformational Yoga.

This module covers topics study of yoga philosophies and traditional texts focusing on the Yoga Sutras of Patanjali, Hatha Yoga Pradipika & Bhagavad Gita. Yoga lifestyles, such as the precept of non-violence (ahimsa), and the concepts of dharma and karma will also be contemplated. This module also covers understanding the value of teaching yoga as a service and serving others through yoga (seva).

This module covers the study and practice of teaching methodologies, such as the principles of demonstration, observation, communication, assistance, correction, adjustments, instruction, teaching styles, and learning styles.

This module also covers understanding, knowledge, and practice of different yoga teaching styles and understanding, knowledge, and learning to conduct and teach a class.

You will understand the critical teaching areas, including learning to instruct, adding content, timing a class, theming, demonstration, language, posture modification/verbal adjustment, classroom organization, and sequencing fundamentals.

You should be able to understand the importance of maintaining personal hygiene as a health and fitness teacher and also the use of adequate and proper clothing as a yoga teacher.

This module covers supervised teaching practice, observation of teaching, assistance in classes taught by qualified teachers, and receiving and giving feedback. For full members, this includes professional ongoing mentoring and supervision under a more senior teacher. The heart of this module lies in the practical learning experience.

By the end of this module, you should be able to learn to:

  • Conduct a 60/75/90 minute yoga class as a lead teacher
  • Receive and Provide feedback during the class
